All papers accepted in Special Sessions will be included in the conference proceedings and indexed.
Scope

In the past few years information technology has become much more pervasive in the field of Cultural Heritage (CH). Concurrently, digital photography has become commonplace with the broad adoption of digital cameras, which are now quite powerful in terms of resolution, quality and data acquisition capabilities. Driven by these trends, image analysis, computer vision and computer graphics begin to converge into a common hybrid field, producing innovative and meaningful ways to exploit the interaction between 3D and photographic datasets in a lot of CH applications. Papers in this special session should advance the state-of-the-art of the application of these fields to the study, preservation, documentation and presentation of works of art.

Authors Notification: January 11, 2012 (expired)
Final Paper Submission and Registration: January 18, 2012 (expired)
Chair

Paul Richard
University of Angers
France
All papers accepted in Special Sessions will be included in the conference proceedings and indexed.
Scope

The Special Session on Simulation and Interaction in Intelligent Environments (SIMIE) aims to bring together researchers and practitioners working in innovative technologies that facilitate human communication interaction with machines, environments and other humans. Ambient Intelligence, Multimedia, Virtual Reality and Robotics are becoming more and more important areas of technological development for corporations as well as for universities. Research is active in these challenging areas and applications are numerous in engineering as well as in health care, arts, and other areas. There are well-know examples of immersive virtual environments and telepresence systems such as in robotics, health care and other domains, making it easier to establish collaborative and intelligent environments where people can interact with each other and with artificial agents as well. For exemple , businesses can achieve significant travel cost reductions through the use of virtual meetings. In industrial or remote environments it is possible to tele-operate robots in situations that could be dangerous for humans. SIMIE encourages authors to submit papers describing original work based on diverse perspectives related to HCI, especially involving Virtual Reality, Tele-robotics, Ambient Intelligence, and related technologies, including recent advances in research, applications and tools.

All papers accepted in Special Sessions will be included in the conference proceedings and indexed.
Scope

Real-Time Computer Graphics is often used in reference to interactive 3D computer graphics, typically using a GPU, with video games as the most noticeable applications. An important aspect of real-time computer graphics is the combination of simulated physics and animation, to imitate the appearance of the real world to a highly realistic degree.

Computer-Mediated Reality - SSCMR 2012
* CANCELLED *
Call for Papers
Chair

Sabine Coquillart
INRIA
France
All papers accepted in Special Sessions will be included in the conference proceedings and indexed.
Scope

Mediated reality involves computer-simulated environments that can simulate physical presence in places in the real world, as well as in imaginary worlds, combining the simulated data with real data. Computer-mediated reality involves the manipulation of one's perception of reality through the use of a computer or even a hand-held device such as a smart phone.
Besides stereoscopic displays, some of the current research explores additional sensory information, such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. Haptic systems include tactile information, generally known as force feedback, in medical and gaming applications.
The Special Session on Computer-Mediated Reality aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners working in this area and offer the opportunity to fill the gap between academic researchers, practitioners and industrial parts.
